Code of Conduct
Last updated: 5 January 2026
At Relic Games we created this code of conduct because we believe in making gaming a welcoming space for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of anyone in any form.
This code of conduct applies to all Relic Games spaces both online and in-person. Online spaces include our Discord server, email correspondence, and social media. Anyone who violates this code of conduct may be disqualified from tournaments, expelled from the premises, or permanently banned from these spaces at our sole discretion.
Some Relic Games events may have additional rules or allowances in place (especially those with frequent participation by people under the age of 18, or events specifically listed as 18+). We endeavour to make these additional rules or allowances available to all participants, however participants are responsible for behaving appropriately in all settings.
Intention
This code is designed to create safe and inclusive spaces for all to enjoy and have fun.
While specific examples and provisions are laid out below, it is the spirit of the code of conduct that matters and at our discretion to determine what is and isn’t tolerated.
Respect
The foundation of a good community is built on respect, this includes:
- Personal hygiene – If your presence causes an issue for others, at staff discretion, we may discuss steps that you will need to take to continue to enjoy our spaces in a manner that is respectful of everyone.
- Inappropriate language – If you are swearing or using other inappropriate language staff may ask you to stop. We understand that mistake happen but if reasonable changes in your behaviour are not made we may consider your behaviour excessive or abusive.
- Bullying – Behaviour that demeans, is intended to hurt another person (physically or emotionally), or that is made at the expense of someone else will not be tolerated in any form.
- Imagery and apparel – Relic Games is a family-friendly,safe, and inclusive environment. Please ensure that your attire, games, and game paraphernalia are appropriate for the event you’re attending. Abusive, hate-based, or discriminatory imagery or speech is never appropriate. What qualifies as inappropriate is at our sole discretion.
- Drugs, illegal substances, and alcohol – Drugs, illegal substances, and alcohol are not allowed under any circumstances. If you are discovered with them you will be expelled immediately, and illegal behaviour will be reported to the police.
- Smoking or vaping – Smoking or vaping in the store is not allowed under the Smoke-free Environment laws. Suitable areas for smokers and vapers are available if required.
- Weapons – Weapons or any kind are not permitted at our premises. What is determined to be a weapon is at our discretion.
- Solicitation – You may not solicit/sell goods, events, or services on premise without written permission.
Honesty
Communities can only grow when people feel safe to engage in their favourite games and hobbies openly. If you witness something that is against the code of conduct please report the incident to a member of staff or event coordinator so that we may resolve any potential issue.
- Theft – Theft is not tolerated. Anyone caught stealing or verified/proven as having done so will be permanently banned from Relic Games and legal action will betaken/encouraged.
- Cheating – Cheating in any events will not be tolerated. Appropriate action will be taken to rectify the situation. This can include disqualification from the event and forfeit of entry fees and prizes.
- Sportsmanship – The desire to continue playing a game can be soured by players that berate their opponents after winning or losing a match. Demeaning, disrespectful comments,or actions, before, during, or after a game, indicate poor sportsmanship and will not be tolerated.
Harassment
Harassment is a form of discrimination and refers to circumstances when someone is subjected to unwelcome, uninvited behaviour that a reasonable person would find offensive, intimidating,insulting, embarrassing, or humiliating. Some things we believe constitute harassment include:
- Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation,disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, body size, age, race, or religion;
- Unwelcome comments regarding a person’s lifestyle choices and practices, including those related to food, health, parenting, drugs, and employment;
- Deliberate misgendering or use of ‘dead’ or rejected names;
- Gratuitous or off-topic sexual images or behaviour in spaces where they’re not appropriate;
- Unwanted physical contact and unwanted simulated contact (e.g., textual descriptions like “hug”or “backrub”) without consent or after a request to stop;
- Threats of violence;
- Incitement of violence towards any individual, including encouraging a person to commit suicide or to engage in self-harm;
- Deliberate intimidation;
- Stalking or following;
- Harassing photography or recording, including logging online activity for harassment purposes;
- Sustained disruption of discussion;
- Unwelcome sexual attention;
- Pattern of inappropriate social contact, such as requesting/assuming inappropriate levels of intimacy;
- Continued one-on-one communication after requests to cease;
- Deliberate “outing” of any aspect of a person’s identity without their consent (except as necessary to protect vulnerable people from intentional abuse); and
- Publication of non-harassing private communication.
Relic Games considers marginalised people’s safety over privileged people’s comfort. We reserve the right not to act on complaints regarding:
- Reasonable communication of boundaries, such as “leave me alone”, or “I’m not discussing this with you”;
- Communication in a “tone” you don’t find congenial; and
- Criticism of racist, sexist, cissexist, oppressive behaviour or, assumptions.
Consequences
Failure to adhere to this code of conduct may result in any of the following actions, in no set order, solely at our discretion:
- Verbal warnings;
- Written warnings and mediation;
- Expulsion from our store or online community;
- Permanent ban from our store and/or online communities; or
- Reporting your behaviour to the police.
We have ZERO tolerance for harassment. Any amount of harassment will result in you being expelled and, at the discretion of Relic Games’ staff, permanently banned from our premises and online communities.
